FAQ
Why should you have your rigging checked?
Why should the standing rigging be checked?
Cable fatigue (age limits, overload caused by violent gybes), seized or deformed turnbuckles, corrosion and early signs of cracking on swages are all critical issues that require a full refit to avoid failure.
What else should be checked before setting sail?
On the mast and boom, it is essential to check the condition of the masthead (sheaves, corrosion, etc.), the standing rigging anchor points, the spreaders and their fittings, the straightness of the mast section, the mast step (settling, deformation, etc.), and all stainless-steel fittings and hardware.
